What happens at your consultation
You don't need to have everything figured out. It just gives me an idea so I can start brainstorming.
- You walk me around the project.I'll come out at the scheduled time, and you show me what you're thinking and what your vision is.
- I ask a few questions.That gets my mind going and gives me an idea of what you want.
- We talk budget.What you're ready to invest, and where our ballparks are going to be.
What happens next
I'll go out to my truck for about 20 minutes, write up the estimate, then come back to your door and present the quote. At that point, you can make a decision.
If we're adding custom features, it's a fairly decent-sized project, or we need to draw 2D landscape plans or get 3D renders done for you, the process takes a little longer.
Most of the time, for moderate projects, you get a quote right there on site. No waiting around for an estimate.
How to prepare
- If two or more people are making the decision, please have them all at the meeting. It saves a bunch of back and forth getting everyone on the same page.
- If you're in an HOA, do a little research on their landscape regulations. We'll handle the HOA side and submit all the plans, but knowing the rules helps the conversation and gets it taken care of faster. Usually there's no problem. I've never had one declined.

We had a pathway that ran from front yard to back on the side of our house that was showing its age There wasn't a lot of room to work with but having the right tools made easy work of the job.

I'm Darcy, the owner. I'll meet you at the consultation, and I stay your point of contact through the whole project. Questions, changes, anything that comes up, you come to me.
I'm out on the job with a great crew around me, and together we make sure every detail comes together the way we planned.
Born in Brazil and raised a farm kid in Northern California, I've always worked outside. Before Mountainshade, I worked on the business side of my brother-in-law's electrical and HVAC company, and that's where I saw what it takes to build a good trades business. I started out on my own with small landscape jobs that kept getting bigger, and I found out I love building outdoor spaces. I'd been visiting friends in Sequim for years, so I finally made the move and started Mountainshade here from scratch. This area has been good to us, and I plan on being here a long time.
